Week 1 focuses on welcoming participants into the Pathways to Independence program and setting the foundation for the weeks ahead. Participants are introduced to the program structure, expectations, and supports available, while getting to know facilitators and fellow participants in a safe and inclusive environment. The session supports confidence-building, routine-setting, and understanding how the program links to individual goals around independence, community participation, and employment readiness.

  • An overview of the Pathways to Independence program and how it works

  • A walkthrough of the daily structure, routines, and session times

  • Discussion around group expectations, safety, and support

  • Simple, low-pressure activities to help everyone feel comfortable

  • Time to ask questions and share goals at your own pace
